50 50 Mushroom Swiss Burger Melt - Maple Leaf

Better than drive thru 50/50™ Mushroom Swiss Burger Melt

Ingredients

2 227 gram packages Maple Leaf 50/50 burger
4 sesame seed buns, split
8 slices good quality swiss cheese
1 227 gram package sliced mushrooms
2 tbsp butter
4 tbsp (60 mL) BBQ sauce, prepared
Crunchy onion toppers, prepared – optional

Directions

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground chicken, breaking up with a wooden spoon. Cook until no pink remains, 10 – 12 minutes. Add chicken and any juices to slow cooker.

Stir chili powder and salt in to chicken. Add passata, salsa, and water. Place lid on slow cooker and set to high. Cook for 2 hours, stirring halfway through.

Stir beans in to chicken mixture and replace lid, cooking for another 30 minutes.

Spoon chili in to bowls and serve with garnish fixings, if using.

Tip: Want to achieve the super soft steamed quality of a drive thru bun? Wrap buns in paper towel and microwave for about 20 seconds. Use immediately. When 50/50 is cooked, the meat ingredients will brown (as they normally would,) but the beet powder in the product will keep its pink colour. To ensure it’s fully cooked, please be sure to cook Maple Leaf 50/50™ products to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
