Sub Style Bacon Tuna Melt

Serve with oven baked French fries


1 65g pkg Maple Leaf® Ready Crisp® Bacon

2 170g cans of tuna, drained

¼ cup red pepper, finely diced

¼ cup celery, finely diced

3 tbsp white onion, finely diced

¼ tsp mustard

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/3 cup mayonnaise



1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

4 small long sub buns, split

8 slices tomato

Dash of tobacco – optional


1. Preheat oven to low broil setting.

2. Line a baking sheet with tin foil.

3. In a large bowl combine tuna, red pepper, celery, onion, mustard, lemon juice and mayonnaise. Stir well to combine.

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Place base of buns spread apart onto prepared baking sheet.

6. Divide mixture and spoon onto buns. Place two slices of tomato onto each sandwich and divide and sprinkle cheddar cheese over top.

7. Broil on middle rack of oven for about 1 to 2 minutes.

8. Meanwhile, arrange 3 slices of bacon onto each remaining slice of bread.

9. Remove baking sheet from oven and place each bacon topped bun beside the tuna topped bun.

10. Return to oven and broil 1 minutes longer until bacon is crisp and cheese is golden and bubbling. Serve immediately.
